Julie Harrison
Team Leading Apprenticeship - Level 2
Portland College
With the ability of having great determination and compassion, Julie completed her Level 2 Team Leader Apprenticeship. Julie’s apprenticeship journey is inspirational and shows even great set-backs and hardship can be overcome.
How has completing your apprenticeship made a difference to you in your current role and looking to future prospects?
“I feel that completing this award has broadened my knowledge and allowed me to put this into practice. I feel more confident within myself and have a positive look on my life. I set my standards high when it comes to my job as I believe there isn’t room for error… if you fall behind run faster, never give up, never surrender and rise up against the odds”.
Did you face any difficulties during the apprenticeship? How did you overcome this?
“When working towards my apprenticeship I had an heart attack, I really did appreciate the support given to me it was very humbling. When given an extension for recovery this allowed me to take the extra worry away and concentrate on myself and my health. Once feeling fit and well, I continued the level 2 team leading apprenticeship and the support I received was unreal and overwhelming.”
Any advice to somebody thinking of doing an apprenticeship?
“I wasn’t the most confident when it came to written work, knowing the answers but not being able to get it down on paper was frustrating, but I pushed myself to strive forward and be successful. For anyone thinking of doing an apprenticeship, you can do this!”
