Lorna Litchfield

Organisation: The Mansfield I-Centre
Job Title: Manager

My job role is the day to day operational running of a busy business centre and facilitate customer service roles, I have been working in this sector for over 20 years. I am very much a peoples person, so, I really enjoy this type of role.

What did you want to achieve?

I wanted to achieve a recognised qualification I could use to my advantage in the future, people have told me previously that I am a great listener, and that I have a genuine interest in people, and I believe I am empathetic.  Personally, I wanted to formalise my learning and achieve something for myself.

What Tempest Management Training did…

Tempest Management Training covered many different aspects of the differences between Coaching and Mentoring. There was a lot of role play and small work groups that aided my learning experience. Margaret was available for advice and guidance all the way through.

What we achieved together

The Coaching and Mentoring level 5 course, has certainly made me think differently, making me more aware of how to control my actions, due to the involvement of leadership knowledge/theories during the course, it has definitely made me realise that you should not judge a book by it’s cover. I have also learnt how to think differently and how to adapt my behaviour.

What did you learn?

I have learnt that every individual is different, we think differently and act differently. I have learnt the differences between Coaching and Mentoring and how it can apply and help not only individuals but organisations too. I’ve learnt through the power of questioning and unlocking the individuals potential. Coaching and Mentoring is a very powerful tool to have. I particularly enjoyed the different techniques/modules on identifying my characteristics.
